Shelter Crisis In Villages

Image
By Bos Buhiga Rwanda – In many rural parts of Rwanda, poor housing conditions continue to affect thousands of families, raising concerns about health, safety, and dignity in village communities. Despite ongoing government efforts to improve rural development, a significant number of citizens still live in crumbling mud houses with leaking roofs and unstable foundations. Across villages in districts like Nyamagabe, Karongi, and Rutsiro, families rely on traditional construction methods using mud, sticks, and banana leaves due to the lack of affordable materials. During Rwanda’s rainy season, these structures are especially vulnerable, with some collapsing entirely under the weight of heavy rain and wind. Many residents say they fear for their children’s safety, especially at night. “Our home gets flooded every time it rains,” said Claudine Mukamana, a mother of four from Nyaruguru District. “We have to move everything to the corners and cover ourselves with plastic bags. It’s not safe, ...

Exposed But Determined : A Journey We All Undertake

Image
In today’s fast-paced world, where young people are constantly exposed to pressure, distractions, and the demand to "keep up," the journey to finding confidence and purpose can feel overwhelming. Social media often sets unrealistic standards for beauty, success, and identity. Schools may focus more on grades than on character development. Families and communities, while trying their best, may sometimes lack the tools to guide youth through their most formative years. It is during this crucial stage—adolescence into early adulthood—that a single book can become more than just ink on paper; it can become a blueprint for life. One such book is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. This book, while written for a wide audience, holds within its pages timeless principles that speak powerfully to young men and women seeking direction, strength, and a strong foundation. It doesn't simply offer tips for being successful—it teaches how to become someone who...

Nostradamus : The Ancient Man Who Saw The Future In Visions

Image
Nostradamus: The Man Who Saw Tomorrow Throughout history, some names echo with mystery, prophecy, and wonder. Among them, Michel de Nostredame, known simply as Nostradamus, stands tall as one of the world’s most enigmatic seers—a man who claimed to glimpse centuries into the future and leave behind chilling verses that seem to whisper warnings to every generation. Born in 1503 in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, Nostradamus lived during a time of plague, war, and superstition. As a physician, he treated the sick during deadly outbreaks, but it was not his medicine that would make him famous—it was his visions. Late at night, by candlelight, Nostradamus would fall into strange trances, penning cryptic four-line poems called quatrains. These verses—collected in his famous book Les Prophéties—promised to unlock the secrets of tomorrow. But what exactly did this shadowy man foresee? Even skeptics admit that some of Nostradamus’ quatrains eerily mirror real historical events. Whether coincid...

Alzheimer’s Disease, Who Suffers From It?

Image
Alzheimers  wild Form of Dementia Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most common and serious forms of dementia, affecting millions of people worldwide. It is a progressive neurological disorder that gradually destroys memory, thinking skills, and the ability to perform simple everyday tasks. Although it primarily affects individuals over the age of 65, there are cases of early-onset Alzheimer’s that can occur in younger adults. The impact of this disease on individuals and their families is profound, leading to a significant decline in quality of life. One of the earliest and most noticeable effects of Alzheimer’s disease is memory loss. People with this condition often forget recent events, names, appointments, and even familiar places. This memory decline interferes with daily living and can be very distressing, not only for the affected person but also for their family members and friends. In addition to memory problems, Alzheimer’s disease causes a general decline in cognitive a...

Inspiring Youths

by Buhiga  Every Saturday morning in Nyamata Sector, a group of young people gathers not to play or rest, but to work — together, for their community. With simple tools and big hearts, they sweep dusty paths, fix broken footpaths, and help elderly neighbors clean their compounds. What began as a small group of friends has now grown into a local movement of hope and action. “We just got tired of waiting for someone else to fix things,” says Diane Uwamahoro, 21, who leads the group. “We realized that if we love our village, we should show it through action.” This weekend, they helped an elderly widow rebuild her small kitchen that collapsed during heavy rain. “They brought water, mud, and wood. I didn’t ask — they just came,” said Mama Kankwanzi, wiping tears from her eyes. Local leaders have noticed the youth’s dedication. “They’re not just working — they’re inspiring,” said Jean de Dieu Niyonsaba, the Nyamata Sector Executive Secretary. “They remind us all of the power of com...

Image
Are You an Introvert or an Extrovert??   By: Buhiga Bos Ezra Understanding whether you are an introvert or an extrovert is more than a matter of curiosity—it can offer valuable insights into how you function, communicate, and thrive in different environments. While some individuals are naturally drawn to solitude, others are energized by social interaction. Recognizing where you fall on this spectrum can improve your personal well-being, relationships, and professional performance. Defining Introversion and Extroversion The terms introvert and extrovert were popularized by psychologist Carl Jung in the early 20th century. They refer to two opposing but complementary personality types that describe how people derive their energy and focus their attention. An introvert is someone who tends to draw energy from internal thoughts and personal reflection. Introverts often prefer calm, minimally stimulating environments and may feel drained after extended social interaction. T...
